variety of phone service options available. You can
get voice mail, call waiting, caller ID, etc.- and
those are just your options with your local
phone service. When you include long distance
options, choosing your phone service can get overwhelming.

for needless services is to examine exactly how you
and your employees use the phone. Our friendly sales
experts and account managers will guide you every
step of the way.
- How Do I Pay My Bills for Services?

choice of a wide variety of phone companies. Once
your order has been completed and your service has
begun with the provider you have chosen, all payment
for service charges are made directly to your telephone
service should be made directly with your phone company.
- What is Digital Phone?
VoIP service offered by cable providers is usually
referred to as digital phone. VoIP or Voice over Internet
Protocol is the routing of voice conversations over
the Internet or through any other IP-based network.
Most digital phone providers offer plans that include
unlimited local calling and long distance, plus popular
calling features for one low monthly price.
- What is VoIP?
What if you could save hundreds of dollars on your
phone bill each year? Depending on your calling habits,
you can-just by switching to VoIP (Voice over Internet
Protocol). Not only will you get unlimited calling,
you can avoid many of the taxes and fees that add
up when you use traditional phone service. Plus, a
lot of the most popular calling features are also
available with VoIP, including caller ID, call waiting,
voice mail and more. The Federal Communications Commission
defines VoIP as a "technology that allows you
to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet
connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone
line."
- Why are we still receiving
bills from our previous carrier?
When you transfer service to a new service provider,
the previous service provider sends a Loss of Line
Report to your previous carrier. At this point, they
must cancel any services that you are transitioning
to the new carrier. Occasionally, this cancellation
does not take place in a timely fashion. As a result
you may receive a bill from your previous carrier.
- If X is our only carrier, why
are we receiving bills from Carrier Y?
The problem you are experiencing is referred to as
"slamming". Slamming occurs when another
long distance provider is successful in placing you
on its service without your authorization.
To protect our clients from unauthorized moves to
another long distance provider, most service providers
offer a service called 'PIC Freeze'. A PIC [Primary
Interexchange Carrier] Freeze will prohibit any unauthorized
changes.
Contact our knowledgeable Account Managers for more
information or assistance.
- What are my usage details?
You will find all billable charges on your invoice
(usage and non-usage). Usage, or call detail, is provided
for Local Telephone Services, Long Distance Services
and Data/Internet Services. Call detail may include
the following information:
date of the call
time of the call
the terminating number
the originating number
duration of the call in minutes
the cost of the call
Contact our knowledgeable Account Managers for more
information or assistance.
- What is rounding?
Most Service Providers round the cost of a call up
to the nearest whole cent, where applicable. If the
cost of a call is $.XX1 through $.XX9, we round up
to the nearest penny. Therefore, your per minute rate
may vary slightly on a per call basis from your stated
rate simply due to the mathematics of rounding. The
following example should help in clarifying this issue.
Keep the following in mind when reviewing the examples:
The example assumes a per minute long distance
rate of $.065
Long Distance call durations are calculated
by rounding up to the nearest 6-second increment.
Call Examples:
| Minutes |

- What is Prorating?
The first invoice you will receive from most service
providers will include a prorated amount for Monthly
Charges. It is also called "prorate". This
prorate is for the period of time between the date
you began service with the provider and your first
bill. It is also important to note that Monthly Charges
are applied one month in advance.
As an example, if you began service on 10/07/2005
and your Bill Date is 11/01/2005 your Invoice will
read
| Item Description |
Quantity |
Current Charges |
| Internet Access DSL 128K |
1 @ $125.00 |
$125.00 |
| Prorated 10/07/2005 - 11/01/2005 |
1 @ $93.75 |
$93.75 |
| |
Total |
$218.75 |
|
The first line item (indicating a charge of $125.00)
covers service from 11/01/2005 to 12/01/2005. This
represents your first full month of service.
The second line item (indicating a charge of $93.75)
covers service from 10/07/2005 (Your Initial Service
Date) to 11/01/2005 (Your Billing Date).
Prorates only appear on your first bill or when another
service or feature is added during the billing cycle.

not limited to):
long distance call packs

are associated with a call that originates and terminates
within the state, but terminated outside the originating
LATA. Interstate charges are associated with a call
that originates in one state and terminates in a different
state.

- What are taxes and surcharges?
Taxes: Taxes are mandated by the states in

Surcharges: A surcharge is an additional tax
imposed by certain state & local jurisdictions
and the federal government. This charge is generally

For example, Service Provider is required to pay Federal
Access Charges for every phone line in service. These
charges are used to support government oversight of
the telecommunications industry and efforts to ensure
competition and fair rates.
- How are taxes calculated?
Taxes vary by state and are calculated as a percentage
of your monthly invoice. All Service Providers' services,
with the exception of DSL Internet Access, are subject
