WHAT THE TELEPHONE COMPANY
DOES NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW

Your Telephone Company Representative (The Rep.) is Not Your Friend

Most telephone companies and their "assigned rep" only cares about what you spend each month. Most ILEC (incumbent local exchange carrier) will not assign you a rep unless you are billing $1,000.00+ each month and CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier) $500+ each month. (The Rep's job description is to keep the customer happy so they keep spending). Are you happy with your Rep? Your Rep will never voluntarily tell you about a promotional discount available to you. Since your rep gets paid based on your monthly spending, the more you spend the better that Rep gets compensated. If you spend considerably more with the service provider, you will probably get taken out to the baseball or ice hockey game but you will not get a discount. Put your assigned Rep. to the test. Ask your Rep what he/she can do for you in regards to discounting your services. Then call CPS for our advice.

Have your Rep ever proposed new technology which will lower your bill? When you call your Rep to place an order, do you think you are getting the lowest prices? Do you want to know the answer to that question? Ask CPS for a proposal. Now that you have the facts about your Rep; the next time someone attempts to show you how to lower you cost, it will not benefit you to seek your Rep's advice. Most Reps will bad mouth the agent. If a third party (Broker, Channel Partner, Agent or Solution Provider) can find you discounts, so could your "Rep". Think about it.
This is the second way a Rep makes money. Your Rep will always advise you to go with a calling plan that bills you based on usage even when it is clear you will save truck loads of cash by going with an unlimited usage plan. Save Money by Bundling Your Services

A great way to save money on your services, local lines, long distance plan, international long distance and high-speed Internet is to purchase them from one company. Providers want to keep you as a loyal customer, so as an incentive, they offer lower rates for their bundled plans. You get a low price for quality products plus the added benefit of only receiving one bill a month for all your services.

All You Need To Know About Buying a T1

A T1 Line is a very geographically sensitive telecommunications product. The location of everything affects the price. The farther you are from the phone company's central location the higher your local loop charge will be. If your business has more than one location, the more distance there is between them the more a T1 Line is going to cost you. If you are in a large metropolitan area you will find a T1 connection will cost less in general than one in the suburbs. Another factor that greatly affects the cost of a T1 line is the type of service itself. In other words a full T1 will cost considerably less than a fractional T1, and a long distance T1 will cost more than a local T1. The service provider you choose can also affect the cost of your T1 service. One provider may offer a better price for a data T1 line, and another may give you a better deal on an integrated T1 connection. So by understanding how certain factors affect the price of a T1 line hopefully you will better understand your T1 quote.
